Joseph Robert Kapp is a former American football player, coach and general manager. He played college football as a midfielder at the University of California at Berkeley. Kapp played professionally in the Canadian Championship Football with the Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions, and then in the National Football Championship with the Minnesota Vikings and Boston Patriots. Kapp returned to his alma mater as head coach of the Golden Bears from 1982 to 1986. He served as general manager and president of the BC Lions in 1990. Kapp was a member of the Football Fame Hall of Fame. Canada, BC Sports Hall of Fame, BC Lion Wall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame and University of California Football Hall of Fame. Kapp's shirt number 22 was one of eight numbers recovered by the Lions. In November 2006, Kapp was named on CFL's List of 50 Best Modern Era by the Canadian sports network TSN. Sports Illustrated once called him "the toughest Chicano."
