Alan Dugan was an American poet.
About Alan Dugan
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet known for seven published volumes of poems. His 2001 collection, Poems Seven: New and Complete Poetry, earned the National Book Award.
He grew up in the Queens neighborhood of New York City and later served in World War II.
He spent many years on Cape Cod and was a resident writer at the Massachusetts-based Fine Arts Work Center.
He married painter Judith Shahn in 1956.
He and James Dickey were literary contemporaries.
