Amanda S. C. Gorman is an American poet and activist. Her work focuses on issues of oppression, feminism, race and marginalization, as well as the African community. Gorman was the first person to be named the National Youth Poet. She published The One For Whom Food Is Not Enough in 2015. In 2021, she submitted the poem "The Hill We Climb" at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden. Her groundbreaking poem received international acclaim, and soon after, her two books won bestselling titles and she was awarded a professional management contract. In February 2021, Gorman was listed on Time magazine's 100 Next list in the Phenoms category, with a profile written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
