Andrew Geoffrey Kaufman is an American comedian, performer and wrestler. Although commonly referred to as a comedian, Kaufman prefers to describe himself rather than as a "singer and dancer". He is sometimes referred to as a “dissident actor”. He doesn't like telling jokes and participating in comedies like the traditional way of thinking, once said in a rare indoor interview: "I'm not a comic book enthusiast, I've never told a story. Laugh .... The promise of the comedian is that he will go out there and make you laugh at him ... My only promise is that I will try to entertain you as best I can. "After working in small comedy clubs in the early 1970s, Kaufman gained the attention of more audiences in 1975, when he was invited to perform part of his play during the season one. Saturday Night Live Character His Foreign Man was the cornerstone of his performance as Latka Gravas in the hit television series Taxi from 1978 to 1983 .
