William Earl Kilson is an American jazz drummer. Kilson was born in Washington, DC. He started playing trumpet at 10, switched to trombone at 11, then drums at 16. . He then went on tour in Europe with Walter Davis. He has performed with Ahmad Jamal, Dianne Reeves, Greg Osby, George Duke, Steps Ahead, Tim Hagans, Terumasa Hino, Bob James, Dave Holland, Bob Belden and Kevin Mahogany. Other associations include Kirk Whalum, Freddie Jackson, Chris Botti, Donald Brown, Bob James and Paula Cole. Kilson is perhaps best known for his work with Holland. He performed on the 1999 Grammy-nominated album Prime Directive in the Netherlands and 2002 Grammy-winning album What Goes Around. Kilson also led his own quartet with James Genus and Tim Hagans. His first release as a leader, Pots and Pans, was in 2006 .
