Criminal charges include armed robbery and many rapes, some of which took place on School Ohio State University's campus. He was imprisoned for two years until being freed in 1977. Before the end of the year, he was arrested again for the Ohio State rapes, and the ensuing trial drew national attention. A thorough psychological examination was undertaken, and he was diagnosed with acute schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder. Ten personalities were detected at first, with an additional fourteen being diagnosed by an unlicensed psychiatrist subsequently. He was subsequently granted an insanity defense and was committed to state-run psychiatric hospitals for ten years. He created Stormy Life Productions after his release in 1991 and talked about filming a short film. All of this fell through, and he lost communication with all of his known contacts. He died of cancer at the age of 59, after spending the last years of his life in a nursing facility.
