Boris Yegorov
Boris Borisovich Yegorov is a Soviet cosmonaut-doctor who became the first doctor to fly into space. Yegorov has a medical background, with a father as a leading heart surgeon and mother as an ophthalmologist. He also chose medicine as a career and graduated from the first Academy of Medicine in Moscow in 1961. During the course of his studies, he came into contact with Yuri Gagarin's training and became interested in space medicine. Yegorov received his doctorate in medicine, specializing in the disorder of the sense of balance. Yegorov has been selected as a member of the multidisciplinary team that flies on Voskhod 1. It is suggested that his father's influence in the Politburo may have influenced the selection. As a result of this space flight, Yegorov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on October 19, 1964. He died of a heart attack in 1994 .
