Francis Morgan Ayodélé Thompson, known as Daley Thompson, is a former British athlete in decline. He won a ten-game gold medal at the 1980 and 1984 Olympics and broke the event's world record four times. With four world records, two Olympic gold medals, three Commonwealth titles and victories at the World and European Championships, Thompson is considered by many to be one of the biggest losers. Robert Chalmers describes him as "the greatest almighty athlete this [UK] has ever produced".
