Daniel Handler is an American writer and musician. He is known for his children's series A Series of Misfortunes and All Wrong Questions, published under the pseudonym Lemony Snicket. The first was adapted into Nickelodeon film in 2004 as well as a Netflix series from 2017 to 2019. Handler has published adult novels and a play under his real name, as well as other children's books under the pseudonym Snicket. His first book, a satirical novel called The Basic Eight, was rejected by many publishers for its dark theme. Handler has also played the accordion in several bands and appeared on indie pop group The Magnetic Fields album 69 Love Songs.
