Renowned Japanese manga artist, who is known for his work on the series One Piece, the series has become the best-selling manga of all time, with more than 470 million copies sold. He is voted as the fifth most popular manga artist in Japan.
He spent his childhood watching the animated series Vicky the Viking, which inspired him to draw pirates. He was heavily influenced by the famous Akira Toriyama Dragon Ball.
He and Toriyama have teamed up on Cross Epoch, which includes characters Dragon Ball and One Piece.
He said he knew he wanted to be a manga since he was 4 years old. He married Chiaki Inaba in 2005.
His series has been adapted into a series of animated series starring Caitlin Glass as a voice actor in the US.
