Elena Jane Goulding is an English singer and songwriter. Her career began when she met record producers Starsmith and Frankmusik, and she was later discovered by Jamie Lillywhite, who later became her manager and A&R. After signing with Polydor Records in July 2009, Goulding released his first extended set, featuring Ellie Goulding later that year. In 2010, she became the second artist to top the annual BBC Sound of ... and won the Critics' Choice Award at the Brit Awards that same year. She released her first studio album, Lights, in 2010; it debuted at No. 1 on the UK Album Chart and has sold over 850,000 copies in the UK. In November 2010, the album was re-released as Bright Lights, creating two singles: Elton John's cover of "Your Song" was selected for John Lewis's first Christmas ad, reaching No. 2 on UK Singles Chart, and "Lights," Became Goulding's highest single on the US Billboard Hot 100 so far, reaching No. 2.
