Eric Michael Swalwell is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 15th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, his district covers most of eastern Alameda County and part of central Contra Costa County. Swalwell was raised in Sac City, Iowa, and Dublin, California. While attending the University of Maryland, College Park, he served as a student liaison to the city council for College Park, Maryland. He then interned for Ellen Tauscher and worked as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California. Before being elected to the U.S. House, he served as a local appointee on Dublin commissions, and served one term elected to the Dublin City Council. He was elected to the U.S. House in November 2012, defeating incumbent Pete Stark, a 40-year incumbent who had held the office since 1973.

About Eric Swalwell
American politician who is known for having served as a US Representative from California's 15th congressional district. He gained attention in 2019 when he announced his candidacy for the 2020 Presidential campaign as a member of the Democratic Party.
He attended Campbell University in North Carolina on a soccer scholarship. He transferred to the University of Maryland, College Park and earned his Bachelor's Degree in government and politics. He then enrolled in the University of Maryland School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2006. After several internships, he was elected to Dublin City Council in 2010 before being elected to the House of Representatives in November of 2012.
In April of 2015, he founded Future Forum, a group of young House Democrats focused on the concern of millennials.
While he was born in Sac City, Iowa, he was raised in Dublin, California. He married Brittany Watts in 2016 and together they have two children.
In April of 2019, he announced his 2020 Presidential campaign on an episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
