Gillian Leigh Anderson, is an American-British actress. Her credits include the roles of FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in the long-running series The X-Files, ill-fated socialite Lily Bart in Terence Davies' film The House of Mirth, DSU Stella Gibson on the BBC crime drama television series The Fall, and sex therapist Jean Milburn in the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education. Among other honours, Anderson has won a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She has resided in London since 2002, after earlier years divided between the United Kingdom and the United States. After beginning her career on stage, Anderson achieved international recognition for her role as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully on the American sci-fi drama series The X-Files. Her film work includes the dramas The Mighty Celt, The Last King of Scotland, Shadow Dancer, Viceroy's House and two X-Files films: The X-Files: Fight the Future and The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Golden Globe-winning actress who starred alongside David Duchovny, portraying FBI agent Dana Scully on the television series The X-Files. She reprised her role in the 1998 film The X-Files, its 2008 sequel X-Files: I Want to Believe and a 2016 X-Files miniseries.
She started her acting career by joining an amateur actor group while in high school.
She starred in the 2000 film The House of Mirth and also appeared in the movies The Mighty Celt, Sister, and Mr. Morgan's Last Love.
She was raised with two siblings, Aaron and Zoe. She married and had a daughter named Piper with Clyde Klotz, before the couple divorced. She was then briefly married to Julian Ozanne and she has two sons, Oscar and Felix, from her relationship with Mark Griffiths.
She had a supporting role alongside Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker in the 2006 film The Last King of Scotland.
