Before Fame

In February of 1970 he called the police to report a stabbing, and his family was found brutally stabbed and clubbed; MacDonald himself was alive but similarly wounded.


His conviction was appealed in higher courts, but was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court; his supporters never quit advocating on his behalf.

He reportedly had numerous extramarital affairs, which contributed to his conviction.
