Jim Gaffigan

James Christopher Gaffigan is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. He was raised in Chesterton, Indiana. His material is often about fatherhood, observations, laziness, and food. He is also regarded as a "clean" comic, using little profanity in his routines. He has had several successful comedy specials, including Mr. Universe, Obsessed, Cinco, and Quality Time, all of which have received Grammy nominations. His memoir, Dad Is Fat and his most recent book, Food: A Love Story, are both published by Crown Publishers. He co-created and starred in a TV Land television series based on his life called The Jim Gaffigan Show. He collaborates extensively with his wife, actress Jeannie Gaffigan, and together they have five children. They are Catholic, a topic that comes up in his comedy, and live in Manhattan, New York City.

About Jim Gaffigan

Stand-up comedian known for his deadpan delivery, his jokes about food, and for assuming the voice of easily-offended listeners. His memoir, Dad Is Fat, was published to good reviews in 2013. He played the character Roy Keene in That '70s Show and has appeared in such films as 13 Going on 30, 17 Again, Away We Go and Hot Pursuit.

Before Fame

He joined the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity while at Purdue University. In 1988, he graduated from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business.


He made his Broadway debut in 2011 in That Championship Season, where he acted opposite dramatic actors Brian Cox, Chris Noth, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jason Patric.

Family Life

He has two daughters and three sons with his wife Jeannie Gaffigan, whom he often writes with as well. He himself grew up in a large family and is the youngest of six children.


He was on an episode of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart playing a showcrashing reporter who just wanted to get near Jon Stewart for publicity.
