John Lowe
John Lowe is a former professional British dart player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he is known to have dominated the darts in the 1980s. Lowe was a three-time world champion, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a double-mover. Winmau World Masters championship and twice world singles world champion. In total, Lowe has earned 15 BDO and WDF majors. He has occupied the first place in the world on 4 occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to score nine darts on television. Lowe is one of six players to have won the World Championship three or more times and was the first to win it in three separate decades; with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. His record of 28 world championships was broken by Taylor in 2018. Amid growing dissatisfaction with the UK darts organization, Lowe was also one of 16 players in 1993 who broke him down. to set up their own governing body, the World Darts Council.
