Karthik Sivakumar, better known by his stage name Karthi, is an Indian film actor who works primarily in Tamil cinema. He has won three Filmfare Awards South, a Edison Award, a SIIMA Award and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award. The younger brother of actor Suriya and the youngest son of actor Sivakumar, Karthi initially joined Mani Ratnam as an assistant director. He was offered acting roles and made his acting debut in Paruthiveeran in 2007, which garnered critical acclaim and several accolades including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. His next role was that of a coolie in Aayirathil Oruvan, an action-adventure film directed by Selvaraghavan. He achieved consecutive commercial successes with his subsequent releases – Paiyaa, Naan Mahaan Alla and Siruthai. After appearing in a series of box office flops, he starred in successful films such as Madras, Oopiri which was his Telugu Debut, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Kadaikutty Singam and Kaithi.

He studied engineering in school and worked as a consultant, but found the work too monotonous.
In addition to his on-screen work, he has been a noted social welfare activist, helping out the needy and encouraging his fans to do the same.
His father Sivakumar was a renowned Tamil actor in his own time. He married Ranjini Chinnaswarmy in 2011. Together they have a daughter named Umayaal who was born in 2013.
He is the younger brother of the Tamil leading man, Suriya.
