Kristaps Porziņģis is a Latvian professional basketball player for the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association. He is one of the tallest active players in the NBA, standing at 7 ft 3 in tall, and plays both the power forward and center positions. Born in Liepāja, Porziņģis began his professional career with EuroLeague team Sevilla in 2011. Porziņģis quickly rose through the team's youth ranks and became the figurehead of the senior team by 2013. He subsequently won the EuroCup Basketball Rising Star award in 2015, where, at age 18, he became the youngest ever recipient of the award. The following summer, he declared for the NBA draft, where he was selected fourth overall by the New York Knicks. In New York, Porziņģis shone as the team's star, but, after disagreements with the front office, was traded to Dallas in 2019.

About Kristaps Porzingis
Latvian forward who was drafted fourth overall by the New York Knicks in 2015. He was selected to his first NBA All-Star Game in 2018.
He was born in Liepaja and played youth basketball for BK Liepajas Lauvas. He began playing professionally for the Liga ACB team Baloncesto Sevilla in 2012 and was named to the ACB All-Young Players Team for the 2013-14 season.
He declared for the 2014 NBA Draft but withdrew his name shortly before the start of the draft.
His brother, Janis, has played for the Croatian A-1 Liga team KK Sibenik.
He and guard Jerian Grant were both acquired by the Knicks during the 2015 NBA Draft.
