Kristaps Porziņģis is a Latvian professional basketball player with the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association. He is one of the most active players in the NBA, is six feet tall and plays both a striker and a center-back. Born in Liepāja, Porziņģis began his professional career with the Sevilla team in the EuroLeague in 2012. Porziņģis quickly advanced through the youth levels of the team and became the celebrity of the senior team in 2013. By the age of 18, he became the youngest person to receive this award. The following summer, he announced he was in the NBA Draft, where he was chosen as the fourth finalist by the New York Knicks. In New York, Porziņģis shined as a star of the team, but after disagreements with the main office, was relocated to Dallas in 2019.

The Latvian forward, who was named fourth overall by New York Knicks in 2015. He was selected for his first NBA All-Star Game in 2018.
He was born in Liepaja and plays youth basketball for BK Liepajas Lauvas. He started playing professionally for the Baloncesto Sevilla football team of La Liga ACB in 2012 and was named to the ACB youth squad for the 2013-14 season.
He announced his participation in the 2014 NBA Draft but withdrew just before the start of the draft.
His brother, Janis, played for Croatia's A-1 Liga KK Sibenik team.
He and goaltender Jerian Grant were both acquired by the Knicks in the 2015 NBA Draft
