Marcos Curiel is the lead guitarist of the rock group P.O.D., The Accident Experiment and Daylight Division. Curiel was born in 1974 in San Diego, California and is of Mexican descent. He grew up in the nearby town of Chula Vista, where he graduated from Bonita Vista High School in 1992. Curiel started studying P.O.D. that year, with friend Noah "Wuv" Bernardo. The group began building a strong local fan base, releasing several albums independently. In 1998, they signed a deal to record and release hit albums The Fund Basic Elements of Southtown and Satellite, including hit singles, "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation". Both albums enjoyed great success, earning a number of RIAA Platinum certifications and three Grammy nominations.
