Mary Kay Ash was an American businesswoman and founder of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Inc. At her death her personal fortune was $98 million. Her company had more than $1.2 billion in sales and an international sales force of more than eight hundred thousand in at least three dozen countries.

She was a door-to-door saleswoman of books and also worked for Stanley Home Products.
Her company started out as an idea for a guide for women in business. Instead of just writing a book, she decided to take her own advice and found a company.
She married her first husband Ben Rogers at age 17; they had three children together. She'd married twice more to George Hallenbeck and Melville Ash.
She and Estee Lauder were both cosmetics pioneers.
