Matthew George Millen is a former American football manager and operator. Millen played for the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins of the National Football League. During his 12-year career in the NFL, he played for four Super Bowl winning teams, winning a Super Bowl ring for each of the three teams he played on. After his competitive career, Millen served as President and CEO of the Detroit Lions from 2001 until the 2008 NFL season. His eight-year tenure as franchise leader led to the century. the worst eight years in modern NFL history, and culminating in his dismissal on September 24, 2008. Millen rallied the 2008 Lions staff and coaching staff, becoming the first team to go. from 0 to 16 years old. It was the record of one worst season in league history until it was tied up by the Cleveland Browns of 2017. He is considered by many to be one of the worst directors in modern sport history.
