Michèle Yvette Marie-Thérèse Jeanne Honorine Alliot-Marie, known in France as MAM, is a French politician and member of the European Parliament of France. She is a member of the Republican Party, which is part of the European People's Party. A member of all the right-wing governments formed in the 80s, 90s and 2000s, she was the first woman in France to hold positions in Defense, Interior and Diplomacy; she was also in charge of youth, sports and justice and received the rank of honorary minister in her last two functions. She resigned from her government post in 2011 because of her position in the Tunisian revolution; a year later, in the French legislative elections of 2012, she lost her seat as vice-minister of the 6th Constitution of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. She became a member of the European Parliament in 2014. She remains vice-mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Luz as well as vice-president of the National Council of the Republican Party.
