Known for his soprano vocals, Grassi has gained international attention as the founder and performer of two groups; collective a Pentatonix quintet cappella, and the Superfruit duo with Scott Hoying. In May 2019, Pentatonix released 10 albums, of which 2 topped, 4 songs entered the Billboard Hot 100 and won 3 Grammy Awards as "the first cappella group to achieve mainstream success in modern market ". As of February 2019, Superfruit's YouTube channel had more than 2.5 million subscribers and more than 392 million views. He is a soprano known for his "extremely high and flexible vocal range". Since 2016, Grassi has lived in Hollywood, California. In April 2020, Grassi debuted under the solo nickname, Messer, DJing “a bunch of dark tech tunes” at the Paper's Club Quarantine Zoom event during the Covid-19 pandemic.
