Peter Michael Escovedo is an American percussionist. Together with his two brothers, Pete founded Escovedo Bros Latin Jazz Sextet, before Carlos Santana hired Pete and Coke Escovedo for his band. He leads a large Latin band of 14 to 24 musicians Azteca. His daughter is percussion singer Sheila E

Best known as the leader of a Latin music-inspired jazz and rock fusion band called Azteca, this professional percussionist later performed with a Latin rock group called El Chicano.
Early in his career, he founded a band called the Escovedo Bros. Latin Sextet that featured the musical talents of two of his brothers. His brothers Alejandro, Coke, Javier, Bobby, and Mario all had careers as musicians.
Television personality Nicole Richie is his biological granddaughter.
He collaborated with his sons Peter Michael and Juan Escovedo on several musical projects. His daughter, Grammy nominee Sheila Escovedo, also had a successful career as a musician.
During the early 1970s, he performed with Carlos Santana.
