Robert H. Jackson
Robert Houghwout Jackson is an American lawyer and judge who served as Deputy Attorney General of the Supreme Court of the United States. Previously, he served as United States Attorney General and United States Secretary of Justice, and is the only person to have held all three of these positions. Jackson was also noted for his role as the chief prosecutor of the United States during the Nuremberg trials against Nazi war criminals after World War II. Jackson was invited to the bar through a combination of law reading with an established lawyer and attending law school. He is the most recent magistrate without a law degree appointed to the Supreme Court. Jackson famously said for his advice that "any attorney worth his salt would tell the suspect, without certain conditions, not making any statements to the police under any circumstances. "And for his aphorism describing the Supreme Court," we are not in the end because we cannot fail, but we just cannot be wrong because we are the last. "
