Sevdalin Minchev Angelov is a retired weightlifting athlete from Bulgaria. He is a four-time Olympic athlete. At the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics, Minchev was part of a widespread Bulgarian fraud scandal and was stripped of his medal, disqualified and his results nullified. He competed in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 and won a bronze medal in the men's 56 kg. Minchev entered the 2000 Bulgaria Olympic team and actually competed in the 56 kg category. Sadly, he and his teammates Izabela Dragneva and Ivan Ivanov were both unsuccessful in the doping test within 3 days of meeting, all positive for the banned furosemide diuretic. It was not a complete shock when four members of the Bulgarian weightlifting team during the previous Olympics in 1976 and 1988 were found cheating and stripped of their medals.
