Stephen D. Crocker is the inventor of the Ask for Comment series, author of the first RFC and more. He also attended Van Nuys High School, Vint Cerf and Jon Postel. Crocker received his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles. Crocker was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Internet Group of Designated Names and Numbers, ICANN in 2011. Steve Crocker has been working in the Internet community since its inception. As a graduate student of UCLA in the 1960s, he was part of the team that developed the protocols for ARPANET, the foundation that forms the Internet today. For this work, Crocker received the 2002 IEEE Internet Award. While at UCLA, Crocker taught an in-depth computer programming course. Classroom is designed to teach digital processing and assembly language programming to high school teachers, so that they can deliver such classes in their high school.
