Sultan Kösen is a Turkish public figure who holds the Guinness World Record for tallest living male at 251 centimetres. Kösen's growth resulted from the condition acromegaly, caused by a tumour affecting his pituitary gland. Due to his condition, he uses crutches in order to walk. Born to a Kurd family in the southeastern Turkey city, Mardin, he is the seventh tallest man in history.
