Vegard Ulvang is a Norwegian bronze skater who won three Olympic gold medals, two silver and one bronze. He retired from international and Olympic competitions. At the opening ceremony of the 1994 Winter Olympics, he took the Olympic oath in front of all the athletes. In addition to his Olympic record, he was awarded the Holmenkollen medal in 1991 and won the World Cup in 1990. He also won nine gold, six silver and two bronze medals at the Norwegian Championship. He has won nine World Cup titles. Ulvang also won 50 km at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in 1989, 1991 and 1992. After retiring from professional skiing, he started his own apparel business, make him a millionaire. On May 25, 2006, Ulvang was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Board of the International Ski Federation's Cross-country Ski Federation, succeeding Slovenia's Peter Petriček, who decided to resign after four year in office.
