Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, is a British politician, was Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1940 to 1945, during World War II, and again from 1951 to 1955. In more than two years from 1922 to 1924, Churchill was a member of Congress from 1900 to 1964 and represented a total of five constituencies. Ideologically liberal economic and imperialist, for most of his career he was a member of the Conservative Party, as leader from 1940 to 1955. He was a member of the Liberal Party from 1904 to 1924. Churchill was also famous for his military career and was a historian, painter and writer. Among Sir Winston Churchill's many prizes is the Nobel Prize in Literature. Of Anglo-American descent, Churchill was born in Oxfordshire into a wealthy aristocratic family.
