Peter Martins
Peter Martins is a Danish ballet dancer and choreographer. Martins was the lead dancer at the Royal Danish Ballet Theater and New York City Ballet, where he joined George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and John Taras as ballet dancers in 1981. He quit dancing in 1983, after graduating from noble dancer, became co-ballet artist. - Chief with Robbins. From 1990 to January 2018, he was fully responsible for artistic direction of the City Ballet Theater. In December 2017, Martins quit his job at the New York City Ballet Theater following an allegation of sexual misconduct against him. Five City Ballet later told the New York Times that Martins had verbally or physically abused them; Martins denies having committed any wrongdoing. Martins retired from the City Ballet on January 1, 2018. A subsequent joint investigation commissioned by the City Ballet and the American Ballet School "did not approve the allegations of harassment or violence" against Martins.
