Luther Allison ist ein US-amerikanischer Blues-Gitarrist. Er wurde in Widener, Arkansas, geboren, obwohl einige Berichte behaupten, dass sein wahrer Geburtsort Mayflower, Arkansas, ist. Allison interessierte sich schon als Kind für Musik und in den späten 1940er Jahren tourte er mit einer Familien-Gospelgruppe namens The Southern Travelers. 1951 zog er mit seiner Familie nach Chicago und besuchte die Farragut High School, wo er ein Klassenkamerad von Muddy Waters Sohn war.
