Brothers James Lloyd "Jim" Mitchell and Artie Jay Mitchell are American businessmen. They were working in porn and strip clubs in San Francisco and other parts of California from 1969 to 1991, when Jim was convicted of murdering Artie. They opened the O'Farrell Theater in 1969 as an adult theater and operated 11 of these businesses at the same time. They have produced and directed numerous adult films, including Behind The Blue Door in 1972. They have also been successful as defendants in numerous pornographic cases. Their reputation grew dramatically with Jim's brotherhood and they became the subject of three books, X-Rank, The Lower-Levelers and 9½-year-old Mitchell Brothers' Behind the Green Door and the movie Rated X.
