Pritish Nandy is an Indian poet, painter, journalist, congressman, media and television personality, animal activist, and producer of film, television and streaming content. He is a member of Rajya Sabha, the Senate of the Indian Parliament representing the Maharashtra-based Shiv Sena party. He is the author of forty books of poetry in English and has translated poems by other writers from Bengali, Urdu and Punjabi into English as well as a new edition of Isha Upanishad. In addition to these books, he also wrote stories and non-fiction books as well as three books that translate classical love poems from Sanskrit. He was managing editor of The Times of India and editor of Illustrated Weekly of India, The Independent and Filmfare magazines in the 1980s, all concurrently. He organized six exhibitions of his paintings and calligraphy. He founded the content company Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd in 1993
