Sir Edwin Landseer Lutyens is an English architect famous for figuratively adapting the traditional architectural styles required by his time. He designed many English country houses, war memorials and public buildings. In his biography, writer Christopher Hussey wrote: "Throughout his life he was regarded by many as our greatest architect since Wren, otherwise, as many have contested Comment, is your superior. " Architectural historian Gavin Stamp describes him as "the greatest British architect of the 20th century". Lutyens was credited with the design and construction of New Delhi, which would later become the seat of the Indian government. In recognition of his contributions, New Delhi is also known as "Lutyens' Delhi". With the collaboration of Sir Herbert Baker, he is also the main architect of several New Delhi monuments such as the Indian Gate; he also designed the viceroy's house, now known as Rashtrapati Bhavan.

For his participation in the design and construction of New Delhi, often known as Lutyens' Delhi in India, he was labeled"the greatest British architect". He worked with Sir Herbert Baker on the India Gate. He also designed the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
