In 2006, Port emerged after being cast in the reality TV series The Hills, a film that captures the personal and professional lives of Port and friends Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag and Audrina Patridge. During her production, she held positions with Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone's People's Revolution. After moving to New York City to begin working with Diane von Fürstenberg in 2008, Port was assigned to star in her own spin-off series The City, which originally captured the lives of Port and his friends. Her companions are Jay Lyon, Olivia Palermo and Adam Senn. After undergoing numerous cast adjustments and receiving extremely high ratings, the drama was canceled in 2010, having aired for two seasons. Port launched the "Whitney Eve" fashion line in 2009 .

From 2006 to 2010, she was a main cast member on MTV's The Hills, which aired from 2006 to 2010. She also starred in the reality show The City as the narrator and main character. In 2009, she launched her fashion line Whitney Eve and she was also a judge on Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model in season eight.
