He started his musical career in groups named Fiji, Scarfo and Blyth Power. He co-founded The Kills with American singer Alison Mosshart in 2000. In The Kills, Hince is known as "The Hotel". In the early 2010s, Hince lost the ability to use a finger on his left hand after an accident when his hand was securely locked in a car door. He had to relearn to play the guitar without her. In 2018, he starred in the song "Lorelei" by Azealia Banks from her second studio album, Fantasea II: The Second Wave.
