Jani Allan Kristian Liimatainen is a Finnish support musician, composer and singer who is currently a member of the melodic death metal band Insomnium. He is a former guitarist and one of the founding members of the power metal band Sonata Arctica. He also performed with singer Timo Kotipelto of Cain, Altaria and Stratovarius. Most of his techniques are self-taught, although he did have some early guitar lessons in his life. He is endorsed by Ibanez, playing a Destroyer DT 200 Custom, Ibanez JPM4 P4, and Ibanez "Streetwise" USA Custom guitar & Ibanez Rg 2020X. He believes that Freak Kitchen, Dream Theater and Pain of Salvation are the works that have had the greatest impact on his music. He currently lives in Kotka.
