Rasmus is a Finnish rock band that was formed in 1994 in Helsinki when its members were in college. The original members were Lauri Ylönen, Eero Heinonen, Pauli Rantasalmi and Jarno Lahti. Jarno Lahti left the following year and was replaced by Janne Heiskanen in 1995. Heiskanen left the group in 1998 and was quickly replaced by Aki Hakala. Rasmus has sold 5 million albums worldwide and about 350,000 albums in Finland alone. They have won many domestic and international awards. They were known for their single "In the Shadows" in 2003.
