Jason Furman is an American economist and professor at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute of International Economics. On June 10, 2013, Furman was appointed Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council by President Barack Obama. Furman also served as deputy director of the National Economic Council, having served as an advisor to candidate Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. Furman's research and policy covers topics relating to taxation, health care, macroeconomic policy, competition and inequality, technology policy and the US social security program. Since 2019, he has been teaching Economics 10, a one-year introductory economics course at Harvard, with David Laibson.
