Mathias Ntawulikura is a retired Rwandan long distance runner. He reached the final of the World Athletic Championships and competed at the Olympic Games at 5,000 and 10,000 meters and the marathon. He also played 5 times at the IAAF World Championship. His Olympic best performance was 8th in the 10,000m at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, a race where African nations took the top eight spots. He was forty years old while playing the marathon at the Athens Olympics in 2004; Among the hundreds of men who started the race, he finished 62nd with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes, 5 seconds. He was the first Rwandan to participate in five Olympic Games. The only African to have participated in the previous five Olympic Games was Egyptian shooter Mohamed Khorshed. In 2004, Ntawulikura, along with three other athletes, Nigerian Mary Onyali, Mozambican Maria Mutola and Angola João N'Tyamba, became the second African to participate in the five Olympic Games.
