Maurren Higa Maggi is a former Brazilian athlete and Olympic gold medalist. She is the South American record for the 100 meter hurdle and long jump, with 12.71 seconds and 7.26 meters, respectively. She also hit a record 14.53 meters in triplet - a previous South American record. She was the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport. In 2003, Maurren got into a doping scandal after discovering clostebol on his sample. She claims that a sheet of anti-scarring gel she is using contains anabolic steroids in its make-up. Maurren was suspended for two years, preventing her from competing in the 2003 Pan American Games. She missed the Olympics due to her pregnancy. She finished second at the Troféu Brasil Caixa de Atletismo 2009 against Keila Costa, losing the event for the first time since 1998. Maurren is married to pilot Antônio Pizzonia, with whom she has a daughter, Sophia.
