Peter Cadden Heerey AM, QC is a former judge of the Australian Federal Court. He served as a judge of the Court from 1990 to 2009. Heerey studied at St Virgil College and University of Tasmania, where he earned a BA in Literature and a BA in Law. He practiced law in Hobart, before moving to Melbourne to become a lawyer in 1967, and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1985. Heerey was appointed to the Australian Federal Court in 1990. In 1992, he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court. from Vanuatu. In 2000, he was appointed President of the Australian Defense Force Discipline Appeals Tribunal, 2003 Vice President of the Australian Competition Court and in 2005, Presidential Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. He has published articles in Australian and foreign professional and academic journals on the areas of corporate law, defamation, expert evidence, intellectual property, law and literature and the history of Federal.
