Rafael Suarez, Jr., better known as Ray Suarez, is an American journalist and currently John J. McCloy Visiting Professor of American Studies at Amherst College. Most recently, Suarez hosted Inside Story on Al Jazeera America Story, a daily news show on Al Jazeera America, until that network was shut down in 2016. Suarez joined PBS NewsHour in 1999 and was Senior correspondent of the evening news program on the network TV channel PBS until 2013. He is also a public radio presenter for America Abroad international news and analysis on Public Radio International. He hosted the national public radio show Talk of the Nation from 1993 to 1999. For over 30 years of his career in the news industry, he also worked as a radio reporter. in London and Rome, as a Los Angeles reporter for CNN and as a correspondent for NBC-owned WMAQ-TV in Chicago. He is currently one of the Euronews American reporters.
