Vjekoslav Klaic
Vjekoslav Klaić is a Croatian historian and writer best known for his monumental work on the history of Croatia. Klaić was born in Garčin near Slavonski Brod, son of a teacher. He was brought up in the German mind and language, his mother being German. Klaić went to school in Varaždin and Zagreb. Literature and music that he loved at the seminary throughout history; Some of his musical works have been performed. He studied history and geography in Vienna. After completing his academic program, he taught for over 50 years, first as a high school teacher, then after 1893 as a professor of general history at the University of Zagreb, where he remained with de brief periods until 1922, when he retired. He died in Zagreb. In 1896, he became a full member of the Yugoslav Academy of Science and Arts, concurrently an honorary doctorate from the University of Prague and an outside member of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
