Alexander Briley ist ein amerikanischer Sänger, der der ursprüngliche "G.I." in der Disco-Aufnahmegruppe Village People. Briley wurde in Harlem, New York, und später in Mount Vernon, New York, geboren und wuchs dort auf. Als Sohn eines Pfarrers sang er von klein auf in der Kirche und studierte Gesang an der University of Hartford. Briley wurde dem Produzenten/Komponisten Jacques Morali von Village People-Mitglied Victor Willis vorgestellt. Er trat ursprünglich in Jeans und T-Shirt auf, aber 1978 übernahm er die Rolle eines Soldaten für das Album Cruisin' und als die Gruppe 1979 "In the Navy" aufnahm, trat er als Matrose auf.
