Er kaufte Jun Shihan im März 2003 von James Nyoraku Schlefer und sein Karriere-Name ist "Tairaku". 1987 veröffentlichte Ritchie sein erstes Soloalbum "The Blend". 1989 veröffentlichte er sein zweites Soloalbum "Sonic Temple & Court of Babylon". Ritchies drittes Soloalbum "I See A Noise" wurde 1990 veröffentlicht. Seit 1998 arbeitet er mit dem amerikanischen Shakuhachi-Produzenten Ken LaCosse zusammen, um einen breiten Shakuhachi-Stil namens "Taimu" zu entwickeln. 2007 produzierte und tourte Ritchie mit der italienischen Folk / Punk-Gruppe The Zen Circus, die später in The Zen Circus und Brian Ritchie umbenannt wurde. Das erste internationale Album der Gruppe, Villa Inferno, wurde 2008 für das italienische Label Unhip Records veröffentlicht.
