Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives war ein US-amerikanischer Sänger, Musiker, Schauspieler und Autor. Ives begann als reisender Sänger und Gitarrist und startete seine eigene Radiosendung The Wayfaring Stranger, die traditionelle Volkslieder populär machte. 1942 trat er in Irving Berlins This Is the Army auf und wurde dann ein großer Star des CBS-Radios. In den 1960er Jahren wechselte er erfolgreich in die Country-Musik und nahm Hits wie "A Little Bitty Tear" und "Funny Way of Laughin'" auf. Ives war in den späten 40er und 50er Jahren ein beliebter Filmschauspieler. Zu seinen Filmrollen gehörten Rollen in So Dear to My Heart und Cat on a Hot Tin Roof sowie Rufus Hannassey in The Big Country, für die er einen Oscar als bester Nebendarsteller gewann.
