Claudia Maria Poll Ahrens ist eine costa-ricanische Schwimmerin, die über 200 m bis 800 m Freistil antrat. Sie ist Costa Ricas einzige olympische Goldmedaillengewinnerin und gewann 1996 bei den Olympischen Spielen über 200 Meter Freistil die erste olympische Goldmedaille des Landes. Sie ist mehrfach nationale Rekordhalterin bei unabhängigen Veranstaltungen. Ihre Schwester Silvia gewann bei den Olympischen Spielen 1988 die erste olympische Silbermedaille Costa Ricas. 2017 waren Claudia und Silvia die einzigen costaricanischen Frauen, die bei den Olympischen Spielen eine Medaille gewannen. Claudia nahm auch an den Olympischen Spielen 2000 teil, wo sie zwei Bronzemedaillen gewann. Außerdem war sie die erste Person in Mittelamerika, die eine Goldmedaille gewann, und die einzige, die dies erreichte, bis zu den Olympischen Spielen 2008, als Panamas Irving Saladino eine Goldmedaille gewann.
