Thomas Wesley Pentz, bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Diplo, ist ein US-amerikanischer DJ, Musiker und Plattenproduzent mit Sitz in Los Angeles. Er ist Mitschöpfer und Hauptmitglied des elektronischen Dancehall-Musikprojekts Major Lazer, Mitglied der LSD-Supergruppe mit Sia und Labrinth, Mitglied des elektronischen Duos Jack Ü mit Produzent und DJ Skrillex und Mitglied von Silk City mit Mark Ronson. Er gründete und leitete das Plattenlabel Mad Decent und war Mitbegründer des gemeinnützigen Heaps Decent. Unter anderem arbeitete er als Englischlehrer in Japan und als Lehrer in Philadelphia. Seine 2013er EP Revolution debütierte auf Platz 68 des US Billboard 200. Der Titeltrack der EP wurde dann in einem Hyundai-Werbespot und auf dem WWE 2K16-Soundtrack gezeigt. Während seiner berühmten Zeit arbeitete und datierte Diplo mit dem britischen Musiker M.I.A., einem Künstler, der ihn angeblich zu Beginn seiner Karriere ausstellte.
